The Card Counter

One of the most anticipated films of the year, The Card Counter marks Paul Schrader's return to recurring themes in his work over the past 45 years. The film centers on a card counter (an illicit gambling strategy) and an Abu Ghraib veteran with a gambling addiction that seeks redemption and who is forced to give guidance to the young son of a former colleague, as they have a common enemy. The Card Counter features Martin Scorsese as executive producer, marking the first time the two filmmakers have shared credit since Bringing out the Dead (1999).
