Surviving Desire

Jude, a college literature professor, falls in love with Sophie, one of his students. She, however, is more interested in the empirical experience of this relationship with a man whose life is shaped by themes of Russian literature (he has a particular obsession with an excerpt from Dostoevsky's The Brothers Karamazov). Between romance and disappointment, Surviving Desire builds on the fluidity and intelligence of characters who are far from true happiness.
