Clara Laperrousaz was born in Paris in 1980. She studied Philosophy. The master (first class Honours) she wrote was on Nietzsche. She started to direct with her sister Laura video-art films, then short feature films. She wrote three plays for theatre. She has been selected at the Berlinale Talent Campus 2011.

They co-directed an experimental feature, written by Clara, while doing an art residency at the Centquatre-Paris. In 2013 they have co-written and co-directed the middle-length Retenir les Ciels, starring Lolita Chammah. Soleil Battant is their first feature film.
