To fill the void and cope with their grief, a couple decides to welcome into their home a state-of-the-art humanoid robot designed in the image of their late son, a seven-year-old child. In Sheep in the Box, Koreeda explores the increasingly immediate question of the artificial as a potential emotional substitute.
