Raised in a modern family, eight-year-old Marjane eagerly follows the events of the 1978 Islamic Revolution. As she grows up, she witnesses Iran’s transformation, under Islamic fundamentalism, into an oppressive tyranny. As a teenager, she moves to Europe alone, forced to adapt to a new world while unable to free herself from the weight of her origins. A true account of Iran’s contemporary history through the eyes of graphic novelist Marjane Satrapi.
