The Green Years

At nineteen, Júlio moves from the provinces to Lisbon, where he gets a job as a shoemaker for his uncle Raúl. But when he meets Ilda, a young maid who becomes a regular visitor, their friendship gives way to romance and, ultimately, tragedy. It is Paulo Rocha's first film and one of the seminal works of Portuguese Cinema Novo.
