The Shout is the weird and baffling story of a mental patient who lived with an aboriginal tribe that taught him a secret howl that kills those who hear it. Crossley’s story is told in a flashback during a cricket game at the asylum where he is hospitalized, and it describes his relationship with the composer Anthony Fielding and his wife. After being invited for lunch by the couple, Crossley finds a way to move in with them, but he will gradually reveal his sinister intentions.
