Based on the historical document of the impeachment proceedings against King Afonso VI, initiated by his wife, Marie-Françoise-Élisabeth de Savoie, this is a look at the strange spectacle that Portugal presented to Europe at the time. In the terms of the "historical film," it's a staging of the queen's audacity in the face of the king's stupidity, captured through the lens of Eduardo Serra, the cinematographer to whom this screening also pays homage.
First public screening of the copy digitised by the Portuguese Film Archive – Cinema Museum, as part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan. Measure included in the Next Generation EU programme.
