In 2014, French Captain Antarès Bonassieu and his men are assigned a mission in the Afghan valley of Wakhan, a remote territory bordering Pakistan. One night, his men begin to disappear one by one, without leaving a trace. With no rational explanation, the dusty landscape draws the men into the supernatural and metaphysical. Cogitore’s tense thriller is an intriguing exploration of modern war, where the tools of control and material power are challenged by the sudden dematerialisation of those in command. Screened at the International Critics' Week in Cannes, The Wakhan Front is the filmmaker’s directorial debut in the feature-length format.
