La perra

On a remote island in southern Chile, buffeted by coastal winds, Silvia, a solitary middle-aged woman, makes a living harvesting seaweed. One day, she adopts an abandoned female dog, naming her Yuri—a name she had chosen for the daughter she never had. What begins as the promise of everyday happiness turns into the painful awakening of a childhood trauma when Yuri suddenly disappears. Dominga Sotomayor challenges the traditional narrative regarding the bond between humans and their pets.
