After directing a music video for the Irish hip-hop trio Kneecap, Rich Peppiatt conceived the idea of focusing his first feature film on the trio’s musical artists. This led to a collaboration between the group and the director, resulting in a comedy that parodies the biographical film genre. While the laughs are plentiful, an underlying attitude of protest and resistance permeates the narrative. It tells the story of a group of individuals whose mission is to keep Irish identity alive through their songs, primarily sung in Irish, which challenge authority and evoke sentiments of anti-British imperialism.
