Khartoum

In 2022, four Sudanese filmmakers and a British writer-director began filming the lives of five residents of Khartoum. The country was under military rule that had overthrown the previous civilian government, but shortly thereafter, conflict between the army and militias displaced millions of people, including the entire crew. Refugees in East Africa, the creators reinvented the project, adding animation and visual effects.
