Robert Altman returns to his hometown of Kansas City and the Depression (1934) to tell a story set to the rhythms of jazz of the time: a woman, Blondie O'Hara, kidnaps the wife of a powerful politician to free her husband, a thief who is in the hands of a gangster. Enmeshed in a world of moral turmoil, the two women form an exclusive bond while on the run from the police.
