In Khalik Allah's latest and longest film, we return to the intersection of 125th Street and Lexington Avenue in East Harlem, New York. As if in a meditative investigation, we are led through the lives of homeless and marginalized people, whilst also delving into the life and intimacy of the filmmaker. The people he meets, his family, his partner, and the streets themselves come together in an immersive and extremely beautiful portrait. A collage of materials and plots, filmed in both black and white and colour, at a crossroads between documentary and autofiction, I Walk On Water is an authentic visual poem.
