Anxiety

Anxiety adapts three literary texts: Os Imortais by Hélder Prista Monteiro, Suzy by António Patrício, and Mãe de um Rio by Agustina Bessa-Luís. In the first segment, a father urges his son to commit suicide to spare him from decay. In the second, in 1930s Porto, a courtesan faces death with irony. Finally, a peasant woman discovers golden fingertips and becomes the mother of a millennial river. A triptych of tragedy, realism, and legend.
