Hell or High Water

Two brothers, an ex-con and a divorced father, face the likely foreclosure of their family’s farm in Texas. They decide to team up for a string of adrenaline filled heists, in order to restore their financial status, so they can pay for the debts that were left behind. However, they come across a lawman and his assistant, who will do everything to capture them.

David Mackenzie

Born in Scotland, David Mackenzie started his film career making several short-films, one of which, California Sunshine (1997), won an award at the Chicago International Film Festival. In 1999, he won an Audience Award at the Brest European Short Film Festival for Marcie’s Dowry. Having completed nine shorts and a documentary, Mackenzie directed his first feature length The Last Great Wilderness (2002). But he didn’t gain international attention until he wrote and directed Young Adam, in 2004, a film that won the Best New British Feature award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Mackenzie’s third feature, Asylum (2004), won an award at the Berlinale, where he also won, in 2007, the Silver Berlin Bear for his fourth film, Hallam Foe. His most recent film, Hell or High Water, was part of the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival.
