There Will Be Blood

In Paul Thomas Anderson’s fifth film, blood becomes the liquid gushing out of the pumping forces of the oil industry, in Southern California’s late 19th century oil boom. Daniel Plainview is an oilman dominated by the thirst for wealth and possession who stratifies and exploits every relationship into instruments for his own victory.
