Original title: Diálogos de exiliados

In 1974, after Pinochet’s violent military coup, Raúl Ruiz fled Chile for Paris. After a month, he started filming the city’s Chilean exile community, in what became a kaleidoscope of impressions consisting of interviews and staged conversations with fellow Chilean exiles talking about the daily problems of living abroad, with no perspective of what the future might bring. The film confirmed Ruiz’s position as a fiercely observant filmmaker.
