Heart of a Dog

Drawing from her personal experiences and memories, marked by the loss of her mother, but also of her own husband, Lou Reed, the artist Laurie Anderson offers a moving reflection on themes such as life and death. A film where Lolabelle – the director's dog, who plays the piano – emerges as the protagonist of an intimate journey through fragments and impressions.

Laurie Anderson

Laurie Anderson, American artist, was discovered by the wider public in the early 1980s, when her single O Superman unexpectedly reached number two in British charts. Anderson had previously worked on ambitious multimedia projects that included not only music but also video, projections, dance and writing. She is also a composer and instrumentalist, having invented several of the instruments she uses. In her relationship with cinema, there is an important milestone: Home of the Brave: A film by Laurie Anderson (1986), a concert film recorded during the "Mister Heartbreak" album tour, in which the artist is both director and participant. As a composer, she has also contributed to the soundtrack of films by directors such as Wim Wenders and Jonathan Demme. In 2015, she was a guest at LEFFEST, where she presented Heart of a Dog (2015), a film made after the death of her partner Lou Reed.
