Black Dog

After ten years in prison, Lang returns to his hometown in northwest China to find it almost abandoned, on the verge of being levelled to make way for a factory complex. The only job he can find is in the removal of stray dogs, part of an effort to clean up the city before the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. A dangerous black dog, which carries a high reward, bites Lang. The two are quarantined together to avoid the spread of rabies, and a friendship develops between them. Portraying this relationship with sincere depth, the film tells a story of redemption and renewal.
