Filmed in the Serra da Arrábida, August takes us back to the summer of 1964, when Portugal was still immersed in the Colonial War. Far from that conflict, Carlos, a professor and cellist, spends his holidays at the beach with his friends Alda and Dário. Amid the heat, the sea, and a sense of suspended time, the three surrender to the subtle rites of friendship and solitude. An adaptation of La Spiaggia, the 1942 novel by Cesare Pavese.
