1920. During the Russian Civil War, Communist troops settle in a village. Amongst them, Klavdia, a Red Army commissar, is about to give birth. Her commander separates her from her comrades and places her in the home of a Jewish family, where she experiences family life. Commissar is a powerful and rare look at the role of women in military combat.
