A group of Italian bourgeois departs for a cruise on the Sicilian coast when one of the girls, Anna, disappears mysteriously. While Anna’s boyfriend and best friend look for the missing girl, they end up getting involved.
To break any expectation, in the second part of the film Antonioni transforms the mystery of The Adventure into a reflection on human existence.
