Once again, Lisbon & Estoril Film Festival presents a famous play, the eternal classic by Samuel Beckett, Happy Days, directed by Andrea Renzi and performed by the acclaimed Italian actress Nicoletta Braschi, whose roles in feature films such as Down By Law (Jim Jarmusch, 1986) and Life is Beautiful (Roberto Benigni, 1997) made her famous.

On stage, buried up to her waist, as if she was “planted in the soil”, Winnie, speaks, rambles, addresses Willie, her husband, lying on the ground not far from her. As the director/actor Andrea Renzi says, we witness some kind of tenacious fight, hand-to-hand, between the actress, Nicoletta Braschi and Winnie, the character, in an alternation of words, fragments and repetitions that are the heart of the extraordinary beckettian exploitation of life and its tensions.
